There’s a lot of stuff I share on the Internet every day. Here’s a weekly round up of the things I most enjoyed last week by category. 

Inspiration

• We all choose our feelings. And which ones do you choose? Do they make the world a better place?
• Neko Case mentions inspiration for a song. “That song is a verbatim conversation I heard,” Case says. “You can survive and you’re an awesome, plucky little kid, but you have to take care of yourself because your mom’s a fucking asshole, but you’re gonna have to pay for that later; the fact that you can turn around and start singing again, you’re gonna pay for that later, also. It’s really fucking unfair.”
• I won an award here in OKC. And this is how I acknowledged it: Instagrammed the photo op. Life is a series of meta moments around here. 

Nifty

• What Real Men Look Like in Underwear Ads Love it. I think its easy to assume only women have body issues. I’m glad someone is acknowledge the pressure on real dudes. And just to be clear, I’d totally put pressure on these real dudes, ifyouknowwhatimean.
• How well do you see color? I scored an 8 (0 is best), which I was perfectly satisfied with. I had FB friends score in the 40s. I totally win at color. 
• Husky loves to play in the leaves. That dog likes leaves like I like music festivals. 

Music

• Van Halen – 5150 David (from Dr. Pants) mentioned this album on Twitter the other day and I’ve been listening ever since. There was a time if you’d asked me what my favorite bands were, you’d likely get this answer, “Journey, Van Halen and The Black Crowes.” The Van Hagar version of this band was my favorite version and this was one of my favorite songs. 
• Dr. Pants – If I Were John Cusack This song was played in my living room.
• Marian Call – Shark Week This song was also played in my living room.

• Why I stopped dating potential.  “Ladies, when a guy tells you or shows who they are for the first time, believe them. Trust your gut.”
• The most fundamental habit.“Meditation is practice for observing those thoughts, for being more mindful of them throughout the day.”
• The Governor of Oklahoma is largely a bigoted asshole. Please someone explain to me WTF is up with this lady. As my friend Dave would say, “She has an enormous pain body.” Fer reals.

Nifty

• Surviving Whole Foods “Ever notice that you don’t meet poor people with special diet needs? A gluten intolerant house cleaner? A cab driver with Candida? Candida is what I call a rich, white person problem. You know you’ve really made it in this world when you get Candida.”
• Composite images from around the world. Dude. I look pretty damn German (or French or Netherlandian, if that’s a thing), which is interesting since a lot of my family tree is from Germany.
• The Two Wills of the Heiress Huguette Clark. “…By then, Mrs. Clark had been in the hospital for 17 years, but most of her would-be heirs did not know where she was living.”
• Dudes plumb their buddy’s house with beer.

• Bear’s Den – Isaac 
  
• Bear’s Den – Pompeii I was at this show last Monday. Very fun. Totally smitten with these guys now. 
• Daughter – Youth Again a song from the Kessler show. These folks were the headliners.

Nifty

• Celebrities at a Film Festival.  Read the captions. Some are normal. Others say things like, “Dutch actress Carice van Houten at the Grey Goose vodka party at Soho House Toronto on September 5, 2013 in Toronto, Canada. Is she drunk? It’s hard to tell with Europeans sometimes.”
• How to advertise on a porn site. “As Sun Tzu said, ‘know your enemy.’ So we rolled up our sleeves (or in some cases, removed our clothes entirely) and conducted countless hours of research over long sleepless nights to familiarize ourselves with the ads we would be competing against.”
• 12 kinds of procrastinators. This hit a little close to home.

Music

• Pumped Up Kicks by Keller Williams. I caught this nearly perfect Vine at a Gentlemen of the Road after show last week. One of my friends pointed out that it was my 200th Vine post. Another creepy-awesome 2. 
  
• At Least My Heart Was Open by Foy Vance. He may be my new favorite things right now. This is a favorite song but the whole album is solid. I’ve been begging Greg from The Blue Door to book him. Begging. Shamelessly.
• Ride On, Right On by Phosphorescent. I listened to the whole album at least 15 times this week. The only reason I didn’t post A Song for Zula here is that I’m reasonably certain I have already posted it two or three times on this blog. This is a great one, though.
